no, not really. I just lay them out as rough sketches first, erase and adjust when I finally like it, then I stop and finish.

Read books and looked at the world...
how to draw the marvel way when I was younger...
Whilce Portacio personally taught me some tricks ...
20 plus years of practice :)

There are a lot of ways to do it really.
